S&T: Facebook CoFounder Unveils New Social Network

Date: 1 December 2010

Tuesday, Facebook's Co-Founder Chris Hughes launched his much anticipated social networking website, Jumo. Unlike the other social networking websites, Jumo exists primarily with the intent of creating a centralized space where members can connect with all of their favorite social causes and unite global do-gooders.

After leaving Facebook in 2007 to become the director of online organization for the Obama campaign, Chris Hughes gave the world a tease of Jumo last March. The website included a survey which included a wide choice of questions from "If you had a daughter tomorrow, which would you name her?" to "Would you say the world is getting better or worse?"After the survey was completed, visitors would be able to sign up for addition updates and information on Jumo.

Now users can connect to Jumo, find, follow and support the causes important to them. With an extremely impressive 3,500 organizations on board at launch, users will have plenty of social causes to join and support.

One feature of the website is that it allows you to connect to Facebook and easily find all of your registered friends. From then, users can search for what they might be interested in by selecting different issues and customizing their Jumo experience.

Head on over to Jumo to check it out!
